Join us for a hands-on rope class with Motivotion as they take us through a ‘building blocks’ method of constructing practical body harnesses. Rather than memorizing one specific pattern we’ll learn how different techniques can be combined to weave custom ties for the proportions of our tying partners or to serve a particular function. We’ll be focusing on fundamental concepts like hitches, reversing tension, frictions, how rope holds bodies, planning around individual anatomy and anticipating dynamic forces. Riggers will find it easiest to explore these concepts if you are able to bring a partner to tie, though everything we learn will apply to self ties as well and the class can be taken solo. Students are encouraged to have a basic understanding of rope safety and to bring two or more 30ft lengths of rope as loaner bundles will be in limited supply.
