David Stewart, who is Associate Conductor of the SPO, is excited to conduct his first Fling. This year’s concert will have a home-grown feel, featuring our own Sooke Phil soloists and sections from the orchestra. Conducting this year is David Stewart who is already familiar to Sooke audiences for his solo performances with the Sooke Phil on the violin. He is an active member of the Sooke Philharmonic Society and the Sooke Harmony Project. The concert features solo performances by former Fling conductor Mike Klazek, concertmaster Hollas Longton, violin, and Jackie Kereluk, oboe, as well as a piece for three trombones and a tuba. The orchestra will perform a mix of pops and classics from Strauss to Leroy Anderson. As always there will be a 50/50 draw and when you donate at admission there will be a prize draw for two lawn chairs, donated by Village Foods, Sooke. In case of rain, the concert will take place in the Sooke Community Hall on Shields Road.
