Event description

B’boon is a Vancouver Island based band that plays high energy British influenced retro Punk and New Wave music. Lead singer Lee Worden and drummer Phil Wipper trace their roots back to the early 1980’s punk trio “The Mix” who recorded an EP in 1983 called Break Up Shake Up. As teenagers they promoted their own dances, played legendary private parties and were the frequent warm-up act for Vancouver’s infamous Rubber Biscuit up until their breakup in 1987. Bassist Todd Sacerty also grew up in the vibrant 80’s West Coast music scene most notably as the bassist in The Persuaders, the exciting blues band fronted by David Gogo. Guitarist and vocalist Kelly Fawcett grew up out east, but has called the West Coast home since the 1990’s. All four members are steadily employed as touring and recording sidemen, they have to struggle to synchronize their schedules. However, the love and passion for the music of their youth is well worth it. Whether playing original music as B’boon, or retro dance music as “B’boon Presents London Calling: A 70’s and 80’s British Punk and New Wave Dance Party”, this band is astounding.
