Gonzales Beach

Located at the end of Dalhousie St. in Oak Bay
Gonzales Beach is a sheltered, sandy beach in the neighbourhood of Fairfield, just east of downtown Victoria. The main access to the beach is located off Crescent Road, near the south end of Richmond Road. There are public washroom facilities and a small parking area, as well as some stairs and a ramp down to the beach. Private residences line the beach. This is a great spot to spend a relaxing afternoon. Beyond just sunbathing and swimming, Gonzales Beach hosts a variety of community activities throughout the year. During summer months, the popular Fairfield Gonzales Community Market brings local vendors, artisans, and musicians to the area, creating a vibrant atmosphere where visitors can browse handcrafted goods, sample local foods, and enjoy live performances with ocean views as the backdrop. Paddle boarders and kayakers frequently launch from this protected bay, while beach volleyball enthusiasts set up informal games on the sand. During lower tides, fascinating tidepools emerge for exploration, revealing starfish, crabs, and other marine life. The beach is also a favorite spot for winter storm watching, when brave locals gather to witness dramatic waves crashing against the shoreline. Year-round, the beach serves as a community gathering place where neighbors host beach cleanups, sunset yoga sessions, and seasonal celebrations that highlight the strong community spirit of the Fairfield Gonzales neighborhood.
