Join Us for a Day of Safety, Learning & Industry Connection at the Pacific Opera’s Baumann Centre!
Whether you’re new to the film world or a veteran looking to refresh your skills, this event will offer you a new perspective and the opportunity to grow your network.
Dive into essential health and safety practices with Actsafe’s Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment workshop, where industry experts will guide you through identifying, categorizing, and mitigating workplace hazards on set. Gain hands-on experience with risk assessment tools and walk away with practical skills to keep your team safe. The workshop will be facilitated by Act Safe’s Safety Advisor, Marett Alexander and Actsafe’s new Regional Safety Advisor for Vancouver Island, Tamara Tulloch. (A good person to know if you’re creating content and working on the island).
After the catered lunch, join Nicolle Nattrass’ session on Mental Wellbeing & Psychological Safety on Set. Discover stress-reducing tools, explore emerging support roles like Wellbeing Facilitators, and share space with peers passionate about a safer, healthier industry. Nicolle is a professional counsellor and experienced actor (CAEA/UBCP), playwright (PGC) and director in theatre.
Then we’ll open up the cash bar to help our guests unwind and connect at our Film Industry Mixer & Actsafe Injury Prevention (AIP) Event including free hearing tests. (Limited capacity for hearing tests.)
Limited street parking is available, but ample lot parking can be found in nearby neighborhoods. We encourage the use of public transportation for added convenience.
Presented by Actsafe Safety Association, CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers, and Vancouver Island South Film & Media Commission. Supported by Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia.
