Community Camera Meet-Up

💥💥💥 Community building in action💥💥 First 📸 community meet-up will be: Friday May 23rd @ 6pm. Front steps of the Legislature building. Everyone is welcome. All inclusive. Are you a Lensperson, Shutterbug. Documentarian, Photographer? All of the above? Are you looking to join an all inclusive, non-snobby, non-competitive community of like minded Picture Snappers?? This weekend I met with my friend (and helluva photojournalist) @jmacdo01 and we talked about what this would look like, and what it wouldn't look like. We are thinking about having monthly meet-ups in the downtown Victoria area. Maybe we all meet-up, split into groups and go shoot around the city? Maybe each month we create a shot list, or a photo scavenger hunt? We could have someone in the group create an Instagram page (name to be chosen by the group as a whole) and they can post our photos as a collective? We could plan and come up with ideas for photo road trips (Sandcut beach, Botanical Beach, Jack Point, etc ... ) Maybe at each meeting, everyone chips in $10.00, and at the end of the year we use that money to rent a small space and host a gallery? This would be a community to create together, make some friends, and practice what we all love doing. 📸 This wouldn't be a place to learn or be taught photography (one-on-one teaching is something that could be possible down the road), but for now, a place to share tips and tricks, grow your skill set, explore this amazing place we all share, and build a creative community. So if you have a device that makes photos; cell phone, film camera, DSLR, or $1,000,000 experimental camera, and you'd like to help build a photo community, keep an eye on this space for updates and when a first meet up will be.
